What Causes Pain In Back And Upper Abdomen With Elevated WBC And Bilirubin Levels?

My dad has had left back pain for two weeks now. During these two weeks, the pain had moved up and around to the front to around his rib cage such that he can t take a normal breath. Also in these two weeks he s developed a low grade fever, and excessive thirst. ER says he has elevated white count and bilirubin in the urine. The last two days, the urine is now clear. Doc ordered a CT scan yesterday of the belly area, and today he called my dad back for a scan of the chest area. he has a colonoscopy tomorrow. i can t seem to find any answers online for all these symptoms. He was perfectly fine until two weeks ago, and has suddenly developed all these symptoms. What could it be? Thank you for your time.
