What Causes Pain In Big Toe On Application Of Pressure?

Kicked something hard with my foot or specifically with my big toe nail which was pretty long. Felt pain so I cut the nail then it started paining near the start of the big toe. Happened about 24 hrs ago, don't know if I shud visit doctor. Now it pains only when pressure is applied on the back side of the foot and also on the front.
