What Causes Pain In Broken Arm?

Hi I broke my arm in 2006 (shattered radius and ulna). I m having really severe and pinpointed pain in the area of one of the plates and it feels more swollen than usual. I don t recall hitting it hard. no muscles hurt around the area, just the bone (or plate) itself. Is it possible I could have broken something without realizing?
