What Causes Pain In Ear Radiating Towards Throat?

i have really bad pain in my neck on side of throat...deep inside. ringing in my ears for several months now. I developed this pain of and on for a few years now. The pain seems to start deep in my ear and goes down to the front of my throat on the right side of my adam s apple. is this eustachian tube?
