What Causes Pain In Ears After Cracker Explosion?

I had a bottle rocket go off under a chair that I was sitting in in my garage this afternoon. I got a really sharp pain in my right ear and now have an earache. I did go to the ER and the doctor said my ear looks fine. Is it possible that the eardrum is ruptured?
