What Causes Pain In Head Radiating Towards Neck?

I have a pain on the right top side of my head, and goes down behind my ear to the neck. I had surgery before on a cervical disk. I also had a small stroke in 2007, nothing was affected by it, but I do have a PFO in my heart to close the hole that was there. The pain on the top of the right side of my head and behind my ear worries me the most.
