What Causes Pain In Left Abdomen?

What could cause pain on left side of stomach just on the inner side of the hip bone - this pain comes and goes - I can be upright or lying down and it lasts for a couple of minutes. I have a very healthy diet and exercise very often - walking, cycling, tennis and pilates.
