What Causes Pain In Lower Back Radiating Towards Buttocks And Legs?

In the last month I have been experiencing a blanketing type of pain, as opposed to a sharp pain, when I bend or even just walk. It is from my low back, buttocks and down my legs - it isn t a muscle pain - it s just intense pain in those areas - any ideas?
