What Causes Pain In Nipples After Periods?

Hi,I just finished my period and one of my nipple are really sore. It s hard/semi hard and red and fade to purple colour.Some red I think blood has come out of it. I have just started a new mini pill. Any suggestion what it could be and how can I make it less painful thank you
