What Causes Pain In Ribs Below The Breasts While Breastfeeding?

Hi,I am a new mom feeding my baby.Actually I am feeling pain on my left side ribs from below the breast area.I have noticed I am feeling a lot thirsty also.After applying ointments I feel some what relieved but soon the pain reappears.
kindly suggest what can I do.
