What Causes Pain In The Back Of Hand After Having IV Drip?

HI I have pain in the back of my hand about an inch up my hand where a iv drip was in two months agoo for a hernia operation
When I pump my wrist and you can see the vein it looks like there is a bit missing ie collapsed.

It is extremly painfull to touch
