What Causes Pain In The Lower Back And Buttocks?

I have had pain in my lower back, buttocks since December. I went to a chiropractor and finally gave up because I felt like it was not helping. It hurts to walk on flat ground, climb stairs, lifting my leg to get into a SUV. It started one day in December when I had sex and it's never stopped hurting now.
