What Causes Pain In The Right Side Of The Tongue?

I have pain on the side of my tongue then it moves to the other side there have not been noticeable lesions. Tonight i noticed dark spots that look almost like veins under the right side of my tongue and protruding spikes of tissue around these veins . Should i see my doctor or an oral surgeon?
