What Causes Pain In The Throat?

Hi, since last night I've had a weird pain in my throat. It's not the normal raw, stinging pain it's more of a stabbing pain in the left side of my throat down further than normal. It only hurts when I eat or laugh or cough but is fine if I swallow or drink. Should I be concerned?
