What Causes Pain In The Upper Region Of The Abdomen Post Surgery?

My son had surgery for gallbladder, he also was diagnosed with pancreatitis and abdominal ulcers. The laparoscopic surgery went well and he was discharged two weeks ago. He stopped taking his proteomics a week ago and Today he has pain in upper abdomen. Could it be because he stopped meds too soon? YYYY@YYYY .
