What Causes Pain On Left Side Beneath Rib Cage?

I have been having this pain on the left side behind my rib cage, right at the end of the rib cage. The pain is not in my stomach at all, its on the side and in the back and at times its behind the rib cage more at the top, light right behind my breast.
