What Causes Pain On Left Side Of Body While Having Chemotherapy?

My wife is recovering from colon cancer and chemotherapy. She currently is having pain on her left side, and the doctor is prescribing Pregabalin as a trial drug beginning today. Now she is leaving for Belize on Sunday and will not be regularly monitored by her doctor. Should she start taking the medication now or when she returns in 18 days?
