What Causes Pain Under Arms After Breast Re-constructive Surgery?

I had breast reconstructive surgery last week and ever since then I have had pain under my upper right arm. My doctor suggested muscle pain as a result of my arm being held back for a long period of time. Since then, I think it s the skin that is sensitive as I can barely touch it, especially in the armpit area. It stings when I try to wash it.
