What Causes Pain Under Rib Cage And Abdominal Bloating?

My girlfriend has been complaining of a sharp pain on the right side slightly under her rib cage. There is no fever, no nausea, diarrhea, constipation. Her abdomen os swollen and it hurts to turn her torso to the right. SHe has only gone to the restroom twice today and no bowel movement. Ideas??
