What Causes Pain Under Rib Cage?

what could the possible problem be with severe pain just under the rib cage on the right side. It hurts worse after eating. Pain subsides a little when laying on my back. I have had several tests all indicating no issues with the gall bladder? Very confused and in great deal of pain.
