What Causes Pain Under The Left Side Of Rib Cage?

My husband has had pain on the left side under his rib cage. going towards his middle of his belly. the Dr says it is a bad gallblader. but we are being told that the pain should be on the right side instead. my husband says it is more like naseau. and some times there is pressure under the heart.
