What Causes Pain Under The Ribcage Of A Child?

My 3 year old son is complaining of pain on the left side, underneath his rib cage. He has no fever and is acting normal. Last night he had a croupy cough, but is perfectly fine today. I am concerned with his complaining though, because he never complains about pain.
