What Causes Painful Back While Taking Deep Breath?

I am experiencing pain in my back, right side sort of right in the middle. it is more pronounced if I take a deep breath. I did some vigorous house cleaning over the weekend, and am assuming it s a pulled or strained muscle? Do I need a muscle relaxer -- I have taken Advil but no real relief.
