What Causes Painful Foot?

hello when sitting and occasionally when standing I have just recently started to get a sharp severe pain in my left foot, like a sharp needle going through the padded central part of underneath my foot,lasting a few seconds may come back immediately a couple of times. then no more for that day. used to be by 8pm but now starting on morning as well.
