What Causes Painful Fungal Infection On Skin?

I have had a skin condition for around a year now and have been to the doctor three times. Every time they have given me a fungal skin treatment of sort. The problem is just getting worse and I really would like to know how to treat it. The problem is all over my chest and the skin itself has light brown, flaky spots on it. The spots flake when rubbed. They aren t irritating or painful at all they re just a bit of a confidence crusher. If you could give me any clue as to what to do that d be great!
