What Causes Painful Hemorrhoid After Having Brazilian Wax?

I had a brazilian wax job one week ago Friday By Saturday I developed a painful hemorrhoid. the woman that gave me the wax was not gentle at all. Could this have caused it and when can I expect it to go away? Topical treatments do not seem to help in reducing the swelling.
