What Causes Painful Itchy Bumps On Either Side Of Clitoral Hood?

I am 22 years old and I have recently (as of 2 days ago) had itchy, painful bumps in my pubic area. They were first only on the outer labia and now there is one on each side of my clitoral hood. I read that it could be folliculitis but now i m thinking its less likely since there are no hair follicles on the clitoral hood. I could not make a gynecologist appointment for anything earlier than 2 weeks away and I am really nervous that it could be herpes or something else. is there anything you suggest i could use (topical or oral) thats over the counter that could clear it up in the mean time if it is something like folliculitis?
