What Causes Painful Knot Above Belly Button?

I have a large knot about 2 inches above my belly button and it is about the size of a golf ball or a little bigger. Its very painful and I don t think it s inside my stomach, I think it s on the outside of my stomach lining. Do you have any ideas what it could be? Thank you
