What Causes Painful Lump In Throat?

my son was practicing a choke on me and I was fine until I moved my head to the side and I felt a sharp pop in my throat on the left side. Now, when I swallow, it feels like there is a painful lump in the left side of my throat. What could have happened and what do I need to do to fix it?
