What Causes Painful Lumps On Fingers?

I have developed two different lumps/bumps on 2 different fingers. The bumps are under the skin. They only seem to hurt when pressure is applied as they seem to be right on the bone. I am right handed and the lumps are on my left hand. One is on the pointer and the other is right next to it on my middle finger.
