What Causes Painful Spasms On Right Side Radiating To Armpit?

my husband described feeling a severe charlie horse going up his ribs. It started on his right side and moved to his left side and went up to his arm pit. Right after he felt very tired and laid down in bed and fell asleep. Could this be a heart attack?
