What Causes Painful Stiff Muscles?

Yes hello. I am 44 years. Old and have had three back surgeries. I am still in cronic pain. My muscles are tight and hurt all over my body. Any area you touch is like sticking me with hot poker. Is this due to nerves or is it something separate with just my muscles. All I know is even with my meds. I really hurt. Help. Any suggestions.
