What Causes Peeling Of Wound After Removing Paronychia Bandage?

Hi! I had paronychia, and got it drained and bandaged for a while by doctors. 5 days ago a nurse said I didn't need bandages anymore, and could shower as per normal. but because of taking off my bandage, and introducing moisture, my skin around my wound is peeling quite badly (although the wound itself seems to be healing). any advice please? (:
