What Causes Period To Come Back After One Week?

Hi, I'm a little confused about what's happening. I finished my period about a week and a half ago, but now it's back and is ranging from sticky brown to normal red discharge. Is this normal? I have also got an incredibly sore throat infection, could the two be inter linked? Sam
