What Causes Persistent Bleeding From The Cut On Thumb?

I cut my hand early on in the day. It is deep but I can still move my thumb. I put a butterfly on the deep part and the bleeding has stopped. I put antiseptic on it and added a large bandade. Now it started to bleed again ( put my hand in my pocket ) any suggestions?
