What Causes Persistent Cough Along With Body Aches?

I have been coughing for about three days. I cant sleep because if I lay down at all even on my side I really struggle to breath. I have tried cough syrup. It hasn t worked I am consistently tired all the time and my organs and body ach. Do you know what could be wrong???
