What Causes Persistent Cough And Breathlessness?

I have had a persistent cough for months now. Often experience shortness of breathe. Last year had bronchitis for the first time but this time it is different. No other symptoms other than coughing and shortness of breathe on occasion. Currently taking magnesium due to deficiency.
