What Causes Persistent Cough With Blood In Sputum?

from last 6days i have been suffering from viral infection in my throat so i just counselted doctor . he said ill b fine in a week , but last nite i had severe cough where i saw some very small amount of blood with sputum !! is that alright or any serious concern but im feeling really well now
