Hi. A couple months ago I had some joint pain and a sed rate of 40. I had just been through a couple of rounds of pneumonia. The joint pain occurred after a couple of really long days of standing and moving around with very little sitting. I was going to see a reumatologist but knew I was going to be moving out of the area before the earliest they could get me in. Anyway, I've had issues on and off since then including some fever in the 100-101.3 range, constipation, random allergy stuff, tiredness, etc. I thought I was having some lung pain due to lifelong lung allergies and went to the doctor a while back. That ended up being a strained chest muscle, but he did a chest X-ray just to be sure. The chest X-ray indicated that I had megacolon. In 2007, I had a partial colectomy to repair a volvulous, but other than that I had not really had many symptoms of bowl issues other than occasional constipation. Ended up having a colonoscopy on December 19th and that came back clean. Went back to the doctor a couple days ago again for low grade fever and allergy type stuff and they did blood tests and that's when we saw the elevated sed rate again. I did not ask what the sed rate was, but I know a couple months ago it was 40. I am set up to see a reumatologist in March. I'm just asking for peace of mind if that sed rate of 40 should be something that I should be worried about. I've never had any major health problems so I'm honestly just kind of nervous about this whole thing. Reading the stuff on webmd hasn't done anything but scare me. I'm 24 years old, white, 5'9, 160 lbs, pretty good health and in decent shape. I don't smoke or do drugs and only occasionally have alcohol. When I do drink, it's only 2 drinks at most. I haven't really had any other symptoms other than being tired and having occasional headaches, but I just finished an internship with a Division 1 college football team and am in the process of looking for a job, so I just figured that those symptoms are stress and work related.
