What Causes Persistent Irritation In Eyes?

hello, i have a question about my eye. earlier today a couple minutes after wiping my eye with a makeup removing wipe, my left eye became irritated. red lines appeared going straight down from the iris. hours have passed and its still irritated. what could this be and what should i do? thanks
