What Causes Persistent Itching In The Clitoris?

I thought I was having a yeast infection, however the medication the doctor gave me, along with over the counter drugs are not stopping the itch of my clitoritis which I have now had for two months on and off. My husband and I have not had relations for over three months, so I don't think it is from that.
