What Causes Persistent Pain Above Pelvic Area?

I have had a persistent pain on the left side above my pelvic area for three days the worst day being yesterday when stomach cramps could be timed like contractions every 5 minutes or so I am female aged 67 and have not needed to see a dr for 10 yrs thank you Joyce
