What Causes Persistent Pain In Left Groin ?

I have pain in my left groin. I don't believe it's due to arthritis, which I had invetro. It's located a bit higher in the body cavity. If pressure is applied it becomes more painful and has been present for approximately 4 to 6 weeks. What might be causing this ?
