What Causes Persistent Productive Cough With Intermittent Pyrexia?

Productive cough for one month with intermittent pyrexia. Persistent pain on left sided chest, worsened by cough. Breathlessness experienced on exertion. Sputum sample positive for haemophilius influenza. Treated with augmentin for 7 days (no relief) , Klacid La for 5 days (no relief) and avelox for 7 days (slight improvement).
Chest X-ray pre avelox treatment showed left lower lobe infection.
Symptoms of cough, chest pain and discomfort and breathlessness still occurring.
