What Causes Persistent Stomach Pain?

I have had stomach pain for 5 days now. Feels like someone punched me in the stomach. It comes and goes in waves sometimes very painful. I seems a little better today. I have been taking the pepto bismal pills along with an antacid which seems to help temporarily. Someone suggested taking charcoal but I haven't tried that yet.
