What Causes Persistent Throat Pain And Cold In A Child?

My 5 yr old son is complaining of throat pain...he had fever,cold,cough and ear pain since tue...the doc prescribed ibugesic plus and corminic syrup and candida ear drops for the pain...today he still has cold and now the throat pain..what should i give him.
