What Causes Placenta Calcification During Pregnancy?

Hi, I am 24 wks pregnant with twins and last week the doctor said that one of them has placenta calcification. The baby s weight was 1.3 pounds, the other was 1.4 pounds. I understand that the placenta is aging quicker than it should. How serious is this and what can I do to prevent issues?
