What Causes Popping Sound In Abdomen While Blowing The Nose?

My 14 year old son was just blowing his nose quite hard. I happened to be giving him a hug at the time and as he blew his nose I heard a loud popping sound coming from the left side of his belly and also felt a weird vibration in the same area. Any ideas what that might be?
