What Causes Popping Sounds Coming From Ribs On Right Side?

Hi. My ribs on the tight side sometimes make a popping or grinding sound and the majority of the time I havestabbing pain when bending, laying down,getting up or cross my legs. Ive had an xray but nothing shows. Also when this stabbing pain hits it takes my breath aways
