What Causes Pounding Ache In The Back Of Head And Neck?

For the last two days I ve had an episode of pounding ache (to the point of painful) in the back of my head, neck, and top of shoulders. Once it occurred when I stood up and the other time I was already standing, but I had been walking and it happened when I stopped.
